We help and support companies, councils and groups with our Active Travel solution. Making an active travel recommendation is a great start but the real challenge is making it happen. Promoting and rewarding people for choosing active travel is at the heart of what Fit Link does. And the best thing about our solution is we have the data to report and prove on modal shift.

WHAT IS ACTIVE TRAVEL

Active travel means making journeys by physically active means, like walking or cycling. These are usually short journeys, like walking to the shops, walking the kids to school, cycling to work, or cycling to the station to catch a commuter train.

WHY ACTIVE TRAVEL

Walking and cycling are good for our physical and mental health. Switching more journeys to active travel will improve health, quality of life and the environment, and local productivity, while at the same time reducing costs to the public purse. These are substantial ‘win-wins’ that benefit individual people and the community as a whole.

IMPROVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Walking and cycling to work is the easiest way to promote routine physical activity. Healthy people take less time off work, are more productive and are more likely to stay in their job. Health and wellbeing benefits to the individual are huge but to the company, even bigger.

SAVE THE PLANET

Travel and transport are significant contributors to air pollution and transport accounts for around a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. Choosing to travel by foot or bike means leaving the car at home so no CO2 emissions being produced for that journey. Leave the car, walk or cycle to work and help save the planet!

IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH

Evidence suggests that people who walk or cycle to work benefit from improved mental wellbeing in comparison with those who travel by car. Those who have an active commute are found to have a higher level of well-being than those who go by car or public transport.

QUICKER, CHEAPER AND EASIER

Walking or cycling can be a quicker, lower cost alternative to the car for many trips, as well as being an easy and accessible way of being more physically active.
